Lab 3 – What’s Happening?

Students will study current events by collecting and summarizing articles on environmental issues. The student will submit their report, including actions that they as individuals might take to improve the situation.

Introduction:

Summary of the article (who, what, when, where, why, and so on): In this research, Fazzo et al. (2017) created a systematic review to determine the health impact of hazardous waste exposure. The authors used Population, -exposure-comparators-outcomes to gauge the health outcomes associated with tocic waste exposure. They found that there is an association between exposure to oil industry waste that releases high concentrations of hydrogen sulphone and acute symptoms. Causal relationships were identified for liver, bladder, breast and testis cancers, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, asthma, congenital anomalies overall and anomalies of the neural tube, urogenital, connective and musculoskeletal systems, low birth weight and pre-term birth.

How does this affect the student and what can the student do: This affects me because I own a vehicle and use a phone and a laptop. How I expose these gadgets influences lead exposure. I will engage in creation of awareness in my community on the effect of the heavy metals on the environment. I will also practice responsible disposal of heavy metals.
